Nebraska buys through a central state purchasing office, and its cities, counties and school districts buy on their own as well. To sell to the state you register once as a vendor, then watch for solicitations in your commodity codes and respond by the deadline. This page covers the state registration steps, where bids are posted and the programs that help small businesses, with links to the official pages.

How to register as a Nebraska vendor

  1. View current bid opportunities on the DAS Materiel Bid Opportunities page; no registration or account is needed to view or submit a bid.
  2. Optionally join the vendor list by submitting the Vendor Application (Excel) and a W-9, choosing the NIGP commodity/service codes you sell.
  3. Submit your bid or proposal directly on the posted solicitation (ITB for goods, RFP for services).
  4. If awarded, complete the Vendor Application, Nebraska W-9 and ACH form, Attestation Form and Technology Access Clause before a contract or purchase order is issued.
  5. Keep your information current by sending an updated Vendor Application; out-of-date records can be removed from the vendor list.

Registration gets you on the state's list, but it rarely sends you every relevant bid. Many agencies, and most local governments, post on their own portals. A free BidsNexus alert watches the state portal and Nebraska's local agencies for you and emails the matches each morning.

Tips specific to Nebraska

  • Being on the vendor list does not guarantee notice: the 2017 manual says only a random selection of vendors under each NIGP code gets bid letters, so check the Bid Opportunities page regularly.
  • Past and active contracts can be searched at https://statecontracts.nebraska.gov/ (all state contracts since 2014), useful for pricing research.
  • DAS runs a Vendor Concierge Program for help doing business with the state (https://das.nebraska.gov/materiel/php-forms/concierge_program.php); phone 402-471-6500.
