New Mexico buys through a central state purchasing office, and its cities, counties and school districts buy on their own as well. To sell to the state you register once as a vendor, then watch for solicitations in your commodity codes and respond by the deadline. This page covers the state registration steps, where bids are posted and the programs that help small businesses, with links to the official pages.

How to register as a New Mexico vendor

  1. Have your federal EIN and a New Mexico CRS (gross receipts tax) number from the Taxation and Revenue Department ready; the SPD guide also explains the D-U-N-S number.
  2. From the General Services Department site, open Purchasing, then Vendor (Supplier) Registration, and click Continue with Registration.
  3. Enter a valid email address (it becomes your eProNM user name), create the account, set a password and recovery question, and accept the terms.
  4. Log in from the emailed link, open Manage Registration Profile and complete each section until every link shows a green check.
  5. Once registered, you receive electronic notices of solicitations and changes, and respond to solicitations electronically in eProNM.

Registration gets you on the state's list, but it rarely sends you every relevant bid. Many agencies, and most local governments, post on their own portals. A free BidsNexus alert watches the state portal and New Mexico's local agencies for you and emails the matches each morning.

Small business and certification programs

Federal set-asides work differently from state programs; see our guide to small business set-asides.

Tips specific to New Mexico

  • Preference certificates are issued by the Taxation and Revenue Department, not SPD, and must be included with each bid; a certificate sent with an earlier bid does not carry over.
  • Registration is required to respond electronically to state solicitations, so register before a bid you want is due.
  • SPD Supplier Support phone: (505) 795-1894.
